| Alan
R. Morse, JD, PhD, is President and Chief Executive
Officer of The Jewish Guild for the Blind and its subsidi-aries
where he has worked since 1968 and a member of the Board
of Directors of CCLC. Since its founding in 1914, The
Guild has been assisting visually impaired, blind and
multidisabled people of all ages through a wide range
of programs designed to support and enhance physical,
emotional and intellectual functioning.
The
Guild offers a broad range of programs that include:
medical, vision, low vision, psychiatric and rehabilitative
services, managed long-term care, residential services,
day health programs, schools and educational training
programs for independent living. Dr. Morse is currently
a trustee of the Healthcare Association of New York
State and is a past member and vice-chair of The Greater
New York Hospital Associations Board of Governors,
as well as a past member of the Board of Directors of
the New York State Association of Homes and Services
for the Aging. He is an active member of the American
Public Health Association and numerous other professional
organizations including the American and Massachusetts
Bar Associ-ations; American Psychological Asso-ciation,
Gerontological Society of America, American Academy
of Optometry, the American Society on Aging, and the
Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
His
research interests include aging and vision with an
emphasis on the implications of vision loss; visual
loss and dementia; techniques for early identification
of visual dysfunction; optimiz-ing the effective delivery
of vision and healthcare services. |
